Molecular detection of extended spectrum ß-lactamase genes in Escherichia coli isolates from urinary tract infected patients

Extended-spectrum ß-lactamases (ESBL) are a major source of concern. ESBL have been recorded around the world. Globally, number people infected with Enterobacteriaceae that produce extended-spectrum beta-lactamase is on rise. It has rise in resistance to ß-lactam antibiotics among them. In this study, objective was collect Escherichia coli isolates from Urinary tract infection patients using selective medium, determine prevalence ESBL-producing E. coli, phylogenetic groupings isolates, production, and biofilm formation isolates. The study included 250 samples male female subjects grown medium. isolated bacteria were submitted different tests, including detection development testing grouping isolate triplex-PCR analysis. Representatives each phenotypically evaluated for antibiotic classified into groupings. results ß -lactams showed greatest levels. There 100% rates Ceftazidime-Clavulantae (CZC) Cefotaxime-Clavulantae (CTC), 78.7% Ceftazidime (CAZ), 86.7% Cefotaxime CTX, 84% Aztreonam (ATM), 87.3% Ceftriaxone (CRO) 83.3% Cefpodoxime (CPD). belonging phylogroup B2 (91, 91%), subtyping B23 (75, 75%) most common UTI patients. prevalent individuals UTIs. Most at Al-Hillah hospitals belonged B2, followed by D, B1, A. group study. This examined dissemination genes groups UTIs Al-Hillah, Iraq.
